Olympic Gold Quest - The Initiative

 

No Magic can be done without a TEAM, No sportsperson can win medals especially at the biggest sporting platform on earth without a sporting infrastructure. For Indian sportsperson, dearth of sporting infrastructure is the biggest hurdle that they have to overcome rather than the competitors of other nations. Slowly but steadily this important hurdle is being tried to be mitigated. Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) is one such initiative which is an important milestone for the ultimate goal to realize India's Olympics Dreams!!

Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) is a program of the Foundation for Promotion of Sports and Games, a Not for Profit Company. The aim is to bridge the gap between the best of India and the best of the World, which will ensure that not only can Indians compete at the big stage but also can step in that coveted Podium!! Thing is very clear, the goal is no longer is to just take part, but make it BIG!! Founded in the year 2001 by the Sporting Greats like Geet Sethi and Prakash Padukone, the program made into headlines in the London 2012 Olympics when 4 out of 6 Medal winners were part of OGQ program. Viren Rasquinha is the current CEO of the initiative. 

The good thing is that since the resources chasing sports other than Cricket are very limited in India, The OGQ initiative ensures that it only complements the Indian Government and various federations' efforts rather than compete with them. Talents are identified early with the help of Eminent sportspersons, sports journalists/columnists, business personalities among others and are nurtured by giving the best facilities that they can ask for.....

Olympic Gold Quest currently supports 51 athletes in six disciplines namely Athletics, Badminton, boxing, shooting, wrestling and archery. It also supports 25 junior athletes from different sports disciplines under its Junior Scholarship Program.

  • World Class Equipment.
  • Administrative Support.
  • Sports Science and Support.
Everything is well said and done, but Everything needs and important thing to survive - MONEY! And OGQ is no different as it is a Not for Profit Initiative, it thrives on findings/donations from common and uncommon people.
