Sleeping Sporting Powerhouse!!

 

India is Rising.....Economy, Military, Infrastructure, Education....etc. etc. All are Rising! Sports Infrastructure and Sportsmen and Sportswomen are no different....From 1 medal in 1996, 2000 & 2004 editions of Olympics to 3 medals in 2008 and 7 medals in last year's Tokyo Olympics! India is punching hard to break through the walls and enter the Elitist club of sporting powerhouses like China, US, Australia, South Korea, Japan, UK among others....Though this won't at all be easy, India needs more funding, more infrastructure and more motivated players and coaches that rise up to the occasion, work hard and strive to make BIG at the biggest sporting gathering in this world.....It's a process and will take it's own sweet time while events like World championships, Commonwealth games, Asiad etc. will be  the milestones to reach the ultimate GOAL!!

Starting this blog helps to give a somewhat small contribution towards the goal.....covering the players, covering the infrastructure, covering the events among others will be the aim of this blog, to give certain perspectives to the readers about the standing of India in various sports other than CRICKET. Ultimately, people support will only come if they are aware of the player, aware of the infrastructure that made that player and also the standing of India in that sport at Global Stage....

A rough prediction says that India will "almost" double it's tally from here in every Olympics for next 3 editions. But a Sleeping Giant needs all the necessary ingredients to become Sporting POWERHOUSE!! Only time will tell where India goes but the journey starts from HERE....3...2...1

   If Private players are coming up to spread and build a sporting culture in the nation and thus aspire for Medals at Olympics, Government isn't far behind.... In 2014, Under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, GoI, TOPS scheme (Short for Target Olympic Podium Scheme) was launched, goal of which is to facilitate talented athletes to aspire BIG!! To aspire for that coveted Medal at the biggest event on earth.....Under TOPS scheme, GoI provides financial assistance and other necessary help needed to Dream Big...
